We Believe in Building Skills, Not Just Fixing Problems
MHG Learning Strategies was founded on the conviction that executive functioning is the foundation of success — and that with the right support, anyone can build these skills.

Our Story
MHG Learning Strategies was born from more than 20 years in education and a deep belief that every student is capable of success with the right tools, strategies, and support. Throughout my career as a teacher, school counselor, assistant principal, and principal, I saw bright, capable students struggle with the increasing demands of school—not because they weren't trying, but because they hadn't yet developed the executive functioning skills they needed to manage it all. Planning, organization, time management, task initiation, emotional regulation, and follow-through don't always come naturally. When these skills are challenging, students can quickly become overwhelmed, frustrated, or discouraged. I created MHG Learning Strategies to help bridge that gap. Through individualized Executive Functioning Coaching, Parent Coaching and Education, and Teacher Professional Development and Consultation, I help students and the adults who support them understand the why behind their challenges and develop practical strategies that work. My goal goes beyond the next assignment or grade. I help students build confidence, independence, self-awareness, and lifelong skills so they can understand how they learn, advocate for themselves, and become successful learners. Because every student deserves to feel capable—and to have the tools to show it.
What Drives Us
Science-Informed
Our work is grounded in current research on executive functioning, neurodevelopment, and evidence-based coaching practices.
Strengths-Based
We start with what clients do well and build from there — reframing challenges as skill gaps, not character flaws.
Student-Centered
We meet each student where they are, creating strategies that work for their unique needs.
Practical & Actionable
We focus on strategies that work in real life — not idealized systems that fall apart under pressure.
Our Approach
We don't believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Here's what makes MHG Learning Strategies different.
Executive Functioning First
Before we build any strategy, we understand the specific executive functioning profile of the client — what's working, what isn't, and why.
Individualized, Not Generic
Every coaching plan, parent session, and professional development program is tailored to the specific people and context we're working with.
Building Independence
Our goal is for clients to need us less over time — not more. We build skills and self-awareness that last well beyond our work together.
